Closed Head Injuries

When a person's head is struck but there is no skull fracture, they have suffered a "closed head injury." This can happen in a car accident, truck accident, boating accident, from a motorcycle accident, plane crash, or even from a slip and fall accident. Unlike other head trauma, closed head injuries may not even show up on an x-ray or MRI. That doesn't mean the injury isn't serious.

When the brain bangs against the inside of the skull it causes brain swelling or bleeding in the brain. Even a relatively "minor" concussion can lead to recurring headaches. A serious brain injury can cause lifelong personality changes, loss of coordination, slurred speech or blurred vision, paralysis, convulsions, seizures, even coma and death.

The injured person may not know they've suffered temporary or lasting damage. Family members often have the best understanding of the seriousness of the injury and they can play a critical role in securing a financial settlement in a personal injury lawsuit.

Traumatic Brain Injury

This medical illustration was created for use during a personal injury lawsuit to show the jury the exact injury to our client's face and eye socket. The illustration made it clear for the jury that the fracture of the bone at the bottom of the eye socket allowed the muscle and tissue to leak through into the sinus below.

One of the things that sets Blackman Legal Group apart from other law firms is the production and use of high-quality illustrations such as these.

A closed head injury may temporarily impact daily life activities, leading to lost wages and medical bills. A serious closed head injury can result in lifelong cognitive changes, making it impossible for the injured person to work or live independently. At Blackman Legal Group, we have the expertise as well as the financial and medical resources needed to take your case to court to get you the financial compensation you deserve.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a closed head injury as a result of an accident or negligence, contact Blackman Legal Group by e-mail or call us at 1-866-528-8115 for immediate assistance.
